Lucian founded Akela in early 1998, and has served as its Chief Executive Officer ever since. He created and implemented the business philosophy, which brought TechTeam Akela at the forefront of the Software Outsourcing industry in Romania, also providing the necessary infrastructure. His prior experience includes working as software developer and Project Manager in international software development projects. In 2003, Lucian architected the establishment of Akela, LLC, the first fully operational office of a Romanian Outsourcing services company in the USA. Beginning with 2005, Lucian is a Senior Manager and Vice-President for Software Development within the TechTeam Global group.
Lucian is Vice-President of the Romanian Association for Software and Electronic Industry, and was awarded IDG's Prize for Excellence in Management. His work has been reflected by publications such as Le Monde, La Tribune, Le MOCI, Usine Nouvelle, Le Nouvel Observateur, ComputerWorld and BusinessWeek.
Sabin GIRLEA
Manager of Operations
Sabin has been with Akela since its inception, and now supervises the smooth unrolling of development activities within the company. His major responsibility is to ensure that TechTeam Akela delivers effectively and that the company's strict quality standards are met, while at the same time coaching and motivating our team of top-notch software engineers. He initiated the CMMi certification process for the company and supported this project until successful completion with the award of the Staged CMMI-Dev M3 v1.2 certification. He has also undergone multiple courses staged by the Software Engineering Institute.
Sabin holds an BSc in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest.
George TUDOR
Manager of Operations
George joined Akela in 2000 as Project Manager. After proving his technical and team leading skills, he supervised most of Akela solutions and products, the electronic document management system and the human resource management solutions suite benefited from his analytical and conceptual abilities. Several Project Management courses as well as the completion of the “CMMI for Senior Managers” training recommend George in sustaining our CMMI initiative.
His responsibilities include the operational supervision of TechTeam Akela’s customer dedicated teams and managing the training of operational personnel.
George holds an BSc in Mathematics / Informatics from the University of Bucharest.
Mihai-Daniel POPA
Marketing & Business Development Manager
Mihai came to Akela as Marketing Manager in 2003, and helped refine and establish Akela's positioning as a high added value Application Development provider. In late 2003, Mihai pioneered the adoption of the ODC (Offshore Development Center) model in Akela's contracts, supporting corporate needs for predictable, repeatable business patterns. In 2004, he was promoted to Marketing & Business Development Manager, overseeing channel development and new business opportunities. Since October 2005, Mihai supervises the integration of TechTeam Akela's services into TechTeam's global offering, from a sales & marketing standpoint.
Mihai holds an MBA from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
Calin LUPSAN
Sales Manager, EUROPE
Calin joined Akela in 2001, and worked as a national sales executive before becoming Sales Manager.
Calin Lupsan leads the European Sales division of TechTeam Akela. Calin is now responsible for direct sales, strategic alliances and he maintains global responsibility for many major accounts. Calin graduated from the Politechnics University of Bucharest where he earned Bachelors of Science and Master of Sience degrees. Along with his technical background, Calin also graduated a MBA from the Academy of Economic Studies from Bucharest.
Maria DIACONU
Quality Manager
Maria joined Akela in 2005 as Project Manager. Since the beginning of 2006, her major responsibility is to ensure that TechTeam Akela working procedures and methodologies are continuously improved and efficiently followed by all the the teams inside the company. She successfully managed TechTeam Akela CMMI initiative and the preparation of the official CMMI SCAMPI A appraisal having as result the company recognition as CMMI Maturity Level 3 in December 2006.
Maria holds an BSc in Computer Science from the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
