Premier Romanian provider of Custom Software Solutions AKELA announced today that it has been named to the Annual Offshore 100 ranking of top global suppliers by offshore outsourcing advisory expert neoIT and the Managing Offshore newsletter, alongside major players such as Accenture, IBM, CapGemini, HP and Infosys.
AKELA was also named one of the Top 5 Suppliers in Central and Eastern Europe and one of the Top 5 Rookies to Watch in Global Outsourcing. ‘Offshore 100’ honors global service providers for leadership, innovation and outstanding performance.
This is the first year that Managing Offshore and neoIT have issued the rankings of global ITO (information technology outsourcing) and BPO (business process outsourcing) suppliers. Data points for this ranking were analyzed from a wide range of service providers that included large multi-national firms, emerging BPO providers and small domestic IT services firms. The data points were clustered in four categories that included general company information, client data, operational capabilities and human resource policies. Respondents to the survey included firms from 13 countries around the world representing many of the most popular offshoring destinations such as India, The Philippines, China, Central and Eastern Europe, and Mexico. The complete rankings appear in the January 2005 issue of Managing Offshore and online at: http://www.theoffshore100.com/.
AKELA is the only Romanian company to have made it to this ranking, whereas most suppliers in the Offshore 100 are India-based (40%). Moving swiftly at the leading edge of technology, AKELA has a very strong foothold among the Romanian software outsourcing providers: the company posted a turnover of EU 1.5 million for 2004, and expects to reach EU 2.3 million in 2005, while its staff is expected to grow from 98 today to more than 150 by year end. Newly acquired customers in 2004 include Orange, Airbus/Operantis, TechTeam Global Services, Landis+Gyr/Meter2Cash, Quask, Reportive, Kiwari, Guillemot Corporation, Ipsos Interactive, IATA – International Air Transport Association, Deceuninck (VBP) – to name but a few.
“We are honored to be acknowledged as one of the Top 100 Offshore Outsourcing Suppliers worldwide, and utterly proud to represent Romania at the forefront of the global outsourcing market. This comes to recognize our continuous efforts to better ourselves and deliver value and innovation with each project, and it confirms the improving perception of the Romanian software industry. 2004 was an excellent year for AKELA, and the release of The Offshore 100 research findings at the beginning of 2005 sets very favorable signs for the coming period. “, says Mihai-Daniel POPA, Business Development Manager, AKELA.
An awards ceremony will be held on January 19, 2005 at neoIT’s Annual Global Outsourcing Conference at the Metropolitan Hotel in New York City. At the January awards event Eugene Kublanov, Vice President of Corporate Development for neoIT, and Rusty Weston, Editor of Managing Offshore, will present the findings of the study that ranked global outsourcing service suppliers.
“neoIT and Managing Offshore created the Offshore 100 to identify the global universe of ITO and BPO suppliers,” noted Managing Offshore’s Editor Rusty Weston. “The Offshore 100 is the first study of its kind that goes beyond an alphabetical database of global suppliers. We have created ranked sub lists from the universe of the Offshore 100 that identify leaders in various categories such as the top 5 companies to watch south of the border and the top 5 rookies to watch in 2005.”
